Police seek hit and run driver after girl was shot in head
SAN DIEGO — A 16-year-old girl was shot at close range Sunday morning near the intersection of West 16th Street and East 8th Street.
A 22-year-old man was taken into custody after being shot in the head and taken to University Medical Center, and his vehicle was recovered by the San Diego Police Department, police said. Police did not know whether there were any suspects.
The teen was in critical but stable condition late Sunday morning at the hospital, according to police.
Police said the girl's brother is involved in the shooting.
The shooting is the second homicide investigation in the district, following two homicides in December.
